Bill Mickle
Bill Mickle is the current Chief of Surfside Beach Police Department and previously a Field Training Officer at Myrtle Beach Police Department. He was a Special Agent with the U.S. Departments of Justice and Treasury (1994-2002) and then U.S. Forest Service Law Enforcement where he retired in 2021 from agency headquarters in Washington D.C., as an acting Assistant Director. Bill Served in the US Marine Corps from 1989 to 1993, including combat deployment in Operation Desert Storm. He is an FBI-LEEDA trilogy leadership academy graduate and a Certified U.S. Coast Guard Captain. Bill is the proud owner of “Reel Blessed Fishing Charters.”

Maurice (Moe) Bruce
Maurice (Moe) Bruce is a former Army National Guard and Gulf War veteran. He is a retired Master Firefighter/Paramedic serving 25 years with the city of Lynchburg, VA. He is also a former Deputy Chief for the Shawnee Volunteer Fire Department in Winchester, VA and a current volunteer with the Surfside Beach Fire Department. Moe is a lifelong and avid pier and surf fishing angler.

John “JJ” Spegele
John “JJ” Spegele is a current health informatics entrepreneur and founder of Grayhawk Informatics. Previously, he worked in information technology roles for Eli Lilly, Quintiles, and LabCorp. JJ is a retired Marine who began his career as a Naval Aviator and completed his service in a multi-service role leading development of multiple Command, Control, Computer, and Information systems for warfighters. JJ’s passion is being on the water or around water. He’s an experienced offshore sailor and certified as a D-class Offshore Skipper (D-OS).
Steve Purvis
Veteran Community Outreach Director
Steve Purvis is an operations leader with experience spanning corporate, entrepreneurial, and military environments. He retired from the Air Force Reserve in 2024 as a Chief Master Sergeant and Iraq war veteran. His last duty assignment was Chief of Operations for an Aerial Port Squadron in San Antonio. He currently leads a maintenance team for Niagara Bottling, LLC and was previously an operations leader for the U.S. Census Bureau. Steve loves the outdoors and is deeply committed to supporting his fellow veterans and first responders.


Volunteer Coordinator
Dan Button
Dan Button is a retired Air Force Intelligence Specialist with multiple operational deployments to the Middle East during Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OEF/OIF). He is currently the co-owner of Cypress River Development Group, a local small business specializing in land and real estate development. He previously worked as a senior training instructor for General Dynamics Mission Systems in AZ and is also on the board for Nyeri Elevation Chapel in Nyeri, Kenya. Dan is passionate about connecting veterans and first responders and working to find common ground and support for those communities.
Adrianna Lawrence
Social Media Coordinator
A native to Virginia Beach, Adrianna Lawrence is an anchor and reporter with WBTW News13. She enjoys covering stories related to veterans and the outdoors. Adrianna is actively involved in the local fishing community and spends much of her time in Murrells Inlet area.


Chaplain
Steve Fairchild
Steve Fairchild has served as senior pastor of Low Country Community Church in Murrells Inlet, SC, since 2010, where he is passionate about serving the community and being the hands and feet of Jesus Christ. He has served on multiple boards and is currently the baseball chaplain for St. James High School. Steve’s ministry and leadership is an essential component to the FFTM22 SC mission and those we serve.
