ABOUT US

Fishing for the Mission 22 SC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing free fishing events in the Grand Strand for veterans and first responders. We give those who have served and protected us a safe space to decompress, connect with peers, and experience the proven therapeutic benefits of being on the water.

Research shows therapeutic fishing programs reduce PTSD symptoms by 20–30%, and we've seen it firsthand.

We've put hundreds of veterans and first responders on the water through our programs in the Grand Strand, and we're just getting started. Because emotional healing happens on the water, and everyone who served us deserves the chance to find it.

WHY FISHING?

  • Relaxation and peace in a natural setting

TESTIMONIAL

Spending the afternoon fishing was incredibly therapeutic for the operators in our program.Being out on the water provides a unique kind of calm that many of these guys rarely experience. It gave them space to slow down, connect with each other, and enjoy something simple and meaningful!

Veteran Suicide, A Public Health Crisis

Veteran suicide is a pressing crisis. Since September 11, 2001, over 140,000 veterans have tragically lost their lives to suicide, outnumbering the combined combat casualties in Iraq and Afghanistan. Homelessness, drug addiction, and mental illness disproportionately affect veterans after their separation from service. Combat injuries and financial insecurity further compound the challenges our veterans face. These issues, coupled with the wounds of war, demand urgent attention as they continue to claim the lives of our veterans at alarming rates every day. Together, we can make a difference.
